‘You’re in a terrible humour today, Mr Webber. And on your birthday too…’

Viventi Theatre Company presents

Harold Pinter’s classic

The Birthday Party

‘A Cause for Celebration’ (Glasgow Guardian). In a small hotel room, Harold Pinter’s dark and mischievous play comes to life for six nights only. Two men wait at the door and they're not just here for the party....

Petey and Meg live in an English boarding house in the 1950’s with their one and only boarder, Stanley Webber. Their daily life consisting of a series of banal and meaningless exchanges is disrupted by the arrival of two gentlemen. A powerful blend of mystery, menace and the unextraordinary haunts this play making The Birthday Party, famously once dismissed by it’s critics, a terrifying classic, examining modern Britain by putting everyday life on a trial.

‘the cast…did a superb job of foregrounding the idiosyncrasies and intentions of each character without sacrificing the play's macabre intrigue…an engaging, entertaining production’ (Qmunicate)

‘Viventi’s production is clear in its portrayal of the darker parts of social contretemps and, moreoever, is an encouragingly promising inaugural production with impressive performances.’ (Glasgow Guardian)
