Tinpot Theatre Presents...
Celebration by Harold Pinter

Insinuations fly during an anniversary meal and, as wine flows, secrets are divulged. A meaty meal of extramarital affairs, childhood memories and power-play with extra sauce. 'Intelligent, committed, and very funny' (Sir Peter Hall). www.tinpotcelebration.co.uk

Enigmatic. Fantastic. Spirited. Menacing. Terrifying. Silent. Agressive. Twisted. Cool. Lyrical. Comic. Dark. Moving. Sinister. Genius.

A chance meeting brought Viventi and Tinpot Theatre together. Both performing Pinter, just eight months after his death, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, we decided to join together to create a mini festival to pay tribute to the man himself. We hope you enjoy these timely, poignant productions of The Birthday Party and Celebration and help ensure the spirit of Harold Pinter lives on...

‘You’re in a terrible humour today, Mr Webber. And on your birthday too…’

Viventi Theatre Company presents

Harold Pinter’s classic

The Birthday Party

‘A Cause for Celebration’ (Glasgow Guardian). In a small hotel room, Harold Pinter’s dark and mischievous play comes to life for six nights only. Two men wait at the door and they're not just here for the party....

Petey and Meg live in an English boarding house in the 1950’s with their one and only boarder, Stanley Webber. Their daily life consisting of a series of banal and meaningless exchanges is disrupted by the arrival of two gentlemen. A powerful blend of mystery, menace and the unextraordinary haunts this play making The Birthday Party, famously once dismissed by it’s critics, a terrifying classic, examining modern Britain by putting everyday life on a trial.

‘the cast…did a superb job of foregrounding the idiosyncrasies and intentions of each character without sacrificing the play's macabre intrigue…an engaging, entertaining production’ (Qmunicate)

‘Viventi’s production is clear in its portrayal of the darker parts of social contretemps and, moreoever, is an encouragingly promising inaugural production with impressive performances.’ (Glasgow Guardian)
